Recording via Fire Wire on 100A

I've always used the camera to import footage and then make DVDs. However, tomorrow I'm doing a gig where I need to shoot the footage, import it in to FCP, edit, and then record a tape version of the edit for the client.

I was just trying the camera out and it doesn't want to take in a signal via firewire. It will send out, but not record the signal coming in from the computer. I've been through all the menus but I don't see a way to tell the camera to record the signal coming in through the fire wire. What am I missing? How do I do this?

I think the problem is worse than I thought!

I tried hooking up a little consumer camera via fire wire and it could see and hear the video on the time line, but after I rendered a sequence with "print to tape" It couldn't see what computer was putting out!

I looked in the Audio Video Settings in the FCP menu and found that in the A/V Devices menu it lists the Playback Output as "(Missing) Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480)". It won't let me set it for any thing else but "None" or "Digital Cinema Desktop Preview (main)".

Does that mean my computer isn't able to output the footage to tape in the first place? If so, how do I fix that?

Also, is the footage I can record off the time line the same resolution as I would get with the "print to tape" function? Can I get away with just recording it off the time line?
