Recording VHS onto mini dv via dvx?

There doesn't seem to be any instructions on how to do this in the manual, I plugged them together via the rca cables and then noticed there isn't a record function on the vcr mode. Is it possible to dub a few minutes of footage from a vhs tape in my VCR onto a mini dv in the DVX to edit into a sequence? I'd rather not have to pay someone to dub it for me, any suggestions appreciated!

Yes you can do this. There are two buttons that you have to press for VCR REC. Look on the camera body and you'll find 'em.

You also can record straight into your NLE; just turn on the DV OUT option in the menu, and then you can play on the VCR into the DVX and it'll automatically output it via the firewire into your NLE.
