can i start recording my video right after i press the record button? i'm shooting weddings in sd tape mode (hd recording is still young in our country yet.) the two second lag is kinda inconvenient. i hope somebody could help.

i apologize for the newbie question but i tried searching in this forum and i can't seem to find the answer. if his has been discussed before, please post the link. thank you very much. :)

no you will always have that lag. best thing to do is shoot in HD and deliver in SD. or shoot in SD on card, but honestly shooting in native modes use less space that trying to shoot in DVCPRO50 or DV in card mode. but if you don't have cards and shoot on tape you are out of luck unless you just keep the camera rolling.

If you are able to use P2 then you could utilize the cameras pre-record mode which allows you to PRE-record 3 seconds in HD and 6 in SD but only when using P2. The camera also has to be shooting in 30p or 60i for it to be used.

I'm shooting dvcpro50 720/24p on my hvx200. I would like to turn on the pre-record, but when i go to it in the menu, it won't let me change it from "off." Any idea how to turn it on?

The post JUST above yours says you need to be shooting in 30p or 60i for it to be used. :)
In other words, NOT in 24p.
