I think this can only be done with a fw connection. From a digital camera to the hvx..

edit add;

s-video in/out

must be a way to record the svideo signal..

ok, really stuck. been through the manual a few times..

I'm trying to dub/record video from another camera via an s-video cable. I'd like to record this onto the p2 cards.

my friend here says this panny manual is terrible!

I put camera in mcr/vcr mode and flipped the switch to dub. now I get the signal from the other camera, but cant' record onto the p2.

so it will record from another source, but only onto TAPE

done!

This is probably zero help to you (I don't own an HVX200), but since you seem to be active right now and no one has responded I'll share this:

I own an older Panasonic consumer camcorder and to record an incoming signal on it, I needed to be in "VCR" (playback) mode, and after changing some menu settings, had to use the remote to start the recording. No on-camera buttons would do it.

Sorry if that's zero help. If you have a projector then you can always try dimming the lights and filming that, I've had pretty decent results as long as I white balance properly.

Good luck.

Hi Allen,

That's pretty helpful. At least I know I was close. From what I can tell..camera has to be in MCR mode ( like you said VCR). AFter that, you can record onto TAPE, but not on p2. oh well.

best,

Got it. I'm also going to try this when I get my HMC-150 next week (how cool would it be to archive old VHS tapes to cheap SD cards? :))
