Recording problem

I've been having a serious recording problem with my DVX100. After I am recording a scene, then pushing the pause-record button, my DVX goes out of pause-record mode and goes through a "recycling" process of trying to relocate where the last recorded frame was. After this back and forth recycling process (about 10-15 seconds) it goes back into record-pause mode but cuts about 2-3 seconds off the end of my last recorded section. It also sometimes resets and jumps the timecode to a different number.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Scott

Are you shooting handheld when this happens? I've heard of a few people having problems with the internal sensor that tells the camera if the tape door is open/closed. Depending on how you shoot, you can put pressure on that mechanism. Does it happen when shooting on a tripod?

I had the very same problem with my DVX100A (PAL) but never figured out what the problem was.
At the time I was shooting regurlarly at a construction site, and in order to prevent dust from entering the tape chamber I sealed it with gaffer's tape. The vcr seemed to overheat and then started to do the same thing you describe. when it is searching, does the No tape warning flash?
well the problem was solved when I stopped putting gaffers tape on the deck door. But I do not know why it happened... It has never happened again. What the tape you are using?
Cheers,

I'm using Panasonic 63MQ. I don't think that is the problem.
I shoot 95% handheld. I am trying to recreate the problem right now but of course all is fine. I don't think the strap issue applies for me. Still wondering...

I am trying to recreate the problem now but...I know it will occur again. I'll keep trying then I'll post exact conditions.

You might have a loose connector inside the camera.Noting serious, but it can make the camera behave most strangely. If the problem persists, get it checked by a service centre.
