Recording over a tape recorded on DVX100

Hey -- The good Captain again.

When the camera came I didn't buy any tapes with it, so I only have the one MQ that it came with. (I'm heading to BnH on Monday to see some friends and get my accessories - just incase this wasn't the camera for me and I really wanted the PD170 (wow, how did I ever think that?))

Anyway - With this one tape I've been messing around... but now I'm stuck near the end and still want to go back to the beginning and tape over.

Bad idea? Read some post about problems someone had and was claiming he never recorded over his tapes. Honest, I'll only ever do this once!

Thanks

In practice, it's not recommended to re-use DV tapes, but I think this applies more to footage you actually intend to use and work with, like digitizing into an NLE. If you're just using the tape to test out the camera and practice, it's probably okay. Your mileage may vary.

OK -- thanks for the clue.

Thought it might have something to do with lube on the tape... just a bit scared with my new baby...

Remember changing your FIRST diaper? Second kid I was tossing like a pizza!

Thanks

I have one MQ tape I've recorded over 4X so far and several others that are at 2 or 3 X - all without problem. I don't do that for footage I really want but for tests & fooling around it's fine.
Well, the MQ tapes are dry lube anyway and the main problem would be mixing different types of tape. As long as you stick with the MQ tapes and dont use a tape thats been in another camera (that has used other types of tape) there will be no problems.
What if I filmed some stuff on my DVX, then put the tape into my old camera (Sony TRV27) to capture the footage. Then put the tape back into my DVX to film some more.
