recording help

i just recently got a dvx, and one thing that i really need help with is like a delay from when you hit the record button to when it starts recording to the tape, on my old camera (an canon optura 20) it would start recording to the tape instantly. if there is something that i can do about this it would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, no. The thing is, is that when it is in standby mode, the heads are not moving, so when you press record, it has to first bring them up to "recording speed". On your old camera, it might have immediately showed the REC icon, but it still delayed. This can be said for nearly every DV camera. The only way to get around it is to record to another form of external media (firestore hard drive, laptop, etc...).
