not to steal the thread or anything but does anyone know how to MAKE or where to FIND a distorted gunshot/explosion?

I need a sound where it sounds like an incamera microphone is recording a gun shot so it will have that nasty noise and clipping.

hard for me to explain, i need like a distorted explosion for a bullet hitting a vase.

anyonee?

Most realistic method - get the sound into a good, loud system, and re-record it to the camera mic - loud enough to distort.

If the sound is on your computer, try:

Routing it to a guitar amp - play with the drive & tone, re-record from the amp's speaker;

Try demo versions of guitar amp sims, vintage preamp sims, etc - there's a massive interest in "good, vintage" distortion plugins out there - some of these you can drive into craziness. You may find stacking or cascading the audio into these plugins really makes it bigger.

Cool thing with the plugins is control - get the exact amount of grit you need.

Various plugins that have some sort of uncrippled demo period:

Massey Plugins - try tapehead or his stompbox; these are RTAS (protools) only;
SoundToys - Decapitator is AWESOME. Did I say AWESOME LOUD ENOUGH???; and can get very "broken", try this first.
Nomad Factory - Magnetic is really cool; they also have a tube saturator that's more effect-ish;
Studio Devil - they have a free guitar amp sim which is pretty cool and can get very thrashy.
