Recording format recommendations for doco?

Hello, just wondering what recording format everyone recommends I shoot on. It's a documentary about a football team so please keep in mind that there will be people running around and stuff. So by this i mean, 1080i50i, 1080i25p, 720.. etc. ??

Also, my ultimate goal is to have it shown on TV, SBS, ABC and the like - and film festivals.

Depends entirely on what you want it to look like. 50i/50p would be better for fast movement and a "live" look, but that doesn't mean you have to do it that way. I've seen plenty of sports documentaries entirely in 24p or 25p.

Of course, there's nothing saying you have to do all of it in a single frame rate. You could do things like have the action as 50i/50p and the interviews, etc., as 25p.

But it's all up to you and what you want the final product to be.
 
Thanks David. I guess I wouldn't know what I want it to look like because I don't know what options I have. I just don't want to distract anyone with jittery footage.
