Recording fail

Has anyone else experienced this failure? or seen this happen before?

Tape is PANASONIC AY-DVM63PQ
setting is 30P

The counter when capturing doesn't even show up for this tape. Everything was "looking" ok — until of course I got home and went to capture this tape.

I'm really hoping this issue is only tape failure; I've recorded with a new tape after this incident and that one recorded fine.

Thanks in advance

It could be the tape, or you might have had a little bit of something on your heads that worked itself out.

I have seen this before. Does the pattern look exactly the same every time you play the tape? If it looks different then the issue was during playback and the footage may be salvageable. Either way a professional cleaning is always a good idea every now and then.

yes. that pattern is throughout the tape :/
...thinking it's due for a pro service/cleaning too
