Recording audio with my DVX? Shooting tomorrow!

I'm filming 1 of 2 scenes in my film that have audio tomorrow! I got a xlr to headphone(?) converter but it dosen't fit.

I'm in a time crunch and was thinking of using my DVX and matching the footage in post. As long as I record in 24p when shooting 1080 and 60p when shooting 720, should this be fine?

Any other settings I should adjust? Any reason why this wouldn't work?

I asked this earlier but got a quick response saying it should work. Just wanted to be sure before I shoot tomorrow. Thanks!

The GH1 has a 2.5mm jack, not a 3.5mm jack, so the average adapter isn't going to fit.

That being said, I wouldn't depend on ANY of your critical audio with the GH1.

I make wedding videos. I use the camera audio just for "ambient" sound, which IS important for some stuff, especially during the reception/candid stuff.

I got an inexpensive Azden stereo/shotgun with a 3.5mm plug and an adapter to plug it into the GH1, in the hopes of some better dynamic range and more directional audio. Either the adapter, or the GH1 jack, has already failed...and I've only used the mic a few times. One of the channels has major static. (It's not the cheap mic...I checked it with an audio recorder.) Fortunately I caught the problem quickly, since I edit projects immediately, instead of shelving them for months.

For now on, I won't be attaching any mics to the GH1. For the guys here making "indie films", I'm surprised when I read about the lengths they're going through to attach expensive mics to the GH1. It's auto-gain...you're not going to get clean audio at any rate, so it's easier to just use a recorder. I like the auto-gain, however, for ambient/run-n-gun wedding stuff. Noise it not a concern....consistent levels without a sound guy...are.

Get some digital audio recorders like the Yamaha CX, set to 48k/16bit for syncing to the GH1, and all will be okay. :)

But yeah, at the last minute, I'd just use your trusty DVX as the audio recorder.

Good luck!
