Recording audio from mixing board

Has anyone used the XLR inputs to get the audio from a mixing board? I tried to video a concert last night and the audio was all distorted. I realized afterwards that I had the switch on mic instead of line in. Does anyone have experience with this feature? Will switching it to line in fix the problem? Any other advice. I have another band to tape in a few weeks and don't have the oportunity to practice.

Thanks,
Donna

Yes switching it to line will fix the problem. The switch also has a +48v position for unamplified microphone. Watch out you don't use it when your plugged to a mixing console. I heard it could potentialy bad for the equipment.

I'ved used the EX1 to record audio off a board. Depending on what the mixer has set for an output (I knew this because I was the one who set it, your audio engineer should know if you don't) you either flip it to line or mic without 48v.

Preferably line.

Actually...if the mixer isn't outputting a line out signal it needs to be. You'll get a lot of noise if it's not otherwise.
