FS7: Recording 60p or slow-motion to slot b....

Is there a way to record 24p to slot a and 60p or slow-motion to slot b. I read that you could record to slot A or B by pressing record on the body or the grip... I'm wondering is there a way to take it a step further?

Do you mean simultaneously record at different frame rates to separate cards, or just organize 60p clips to one card and 24p to another?

If the former, you can't record at two different frame rates at the same time, physically impossible it's how fast the sensor is being read. The only way to implement such feature is to record at 60p and then perform some kind of pulldown (discarding frames) to 24p, would be pointless and better done in post though.

If you just mean organizing cards, no idea.

It would be practically impossible to record two different frame rates to different cards. Not because the card slots can handle the data, I bet they can, but it has to do with shutter speed and exposure. Anyway it's not possible to do that on the FS7.

That was my first thought as well. The shutter would be a problem. The only way I could see it possible in the future would be to have the camera record the higher frame rate and do some sort of internal software pull down and exposure correction to synthetically simulate the lower frame rate. It would also need some type of internal motion blur feature to compensate for the high shutter pull down. To do all this internally in real time would take some heavy processing power.

The short answer is no, as others have already indicated.

"In theory" one might be able to create a camera system that could do this sort of trick with 60p/30p, by simply ignoring every other frame, but at 60p/24p you run into the fact that 60 isn't divisible by 24. If you were to extract 24 of the 60 frames, they wouldn't be evenly spaced. You'd have to interpolate. Which means, as Mitch says, you might as well just do it in post.
