Recording 4 channels of audio on the HVX202

Hi,

We are at a stage now with our HVX, that we are looking at doing more on the location audio side of things when shooting with our HVX.

I have looked through the documentation for the HVX, and see that it records 4 channels of audio when in DVCPRO HD mode. My question is, is it possible to use the stereo microphone for 2 of those channels, and the 2 x XLR's for the other two channels?

- our plan is to run the camera using the stereo mic for atmos, then have either a pair of lapel mics, or a lapel and shotgun mic on a boom running into a stereo field mixer for levels, and then into the XLR inputs on the camera.

I would have tested this myself, but we haven't bought our audio rig yet, and I would be keen to find out before we spend the bucks.

Cheers

So there is no way to get the onboard mic channels (3 & 4 i believe) designated for something else? Or can you swap the onboards for another boom?

Two channels come from the XLRs, two from the onboard mic. You can mix and match them however you want (internal on 1 & 3, XLR on 2 & 4 etc) but those are the four channels you have available. Two internal, two external.
