recording 1 clip across 2 - P2 cards

As I understand it, it is possible to continue recording to a second P2 card when the first one has run out of space. My question is this. If I remove the first card and then transfer it to, say, my G4 powerbook while continuing to record on the second one, how does the file get "stitched" back together later to the subsequent recording? Is this something that is flagged in the first file?

I hope this makes sense.

Not sure if it's already supported in FCP, but in Avid, the shot appears as one long clip flawlessly. Internally, each MXF-file stores a reference to the previous/next file in its metadata.
