F3: Recorder for Sony's F3 RGB 4:4:4 output

So the Atomos Shogun won't work since it only has one 6G-SDI connector, right?

From the manual, page 117:
https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/imageController?path=Asset%20Hierarchy$Professional$SEL-yf-generic-153708$SEL-yf-generic-153753SEL-asset-250124.pdf&id=StepID$SEL-asset-250124$original&dimension=original

By default, the camera only offers 1.5G Dual Link for free (base model) - so the Shogun would not work without a separate in-line SDI Dual Link to 3G adapter.
However, with the CBK-RGB101 option installed, the camera will permit 3G output in 422, in either video or S-Log gamma - which should work with the Shogun.

I beleive some of the later F3 units were sold with the RGB option already included, to compete with the Canon C300. Check your unit carefully. The cost of a CBK-RGB101 card is probably worth it compared to an in-line adapter, if you go that route.

Great news since my camera has the RGB option installed! :-)

What about the Blackmagic Design Video Assist? Won't capture 444, but will at least do 10 bit 422 at a very cheap price and in a tiny package. (plus with a great 1080 monitor!)

I have the CBK-RGB01 upgrade, yes. Means every recorder would work?

Well, it means your camera should be able to put out 50p/60p over 3G SDI, and that a 3G capable recorder that is compatible with 50p/60p should be able to read the signal. Does not necessarily mean "every recorder will work", just because implementations can vary even when they shouldn't, and so forth. In regards to the BMD Video Assist, we're discussing an unreleased product whose tech specs page doesn't make a clear delineation between readable signals and recordable signals - possibly because all signals can be recorded, but possibly not.

I've successfully output 50p/60p from the Sony F3 with CBK-RGB01 over 3G SDI and recorded it to the Sony SR-R1 recorder. Other 50p/60p capable recorders should work too.

In the menus, find the menu where you turn on the dual link outputs. If you have the CBK-RGB01 installed, there are options for "3G SDI 4:2:2 Video Gamma" and "3G SDI 4:2:2 S-Log Gamma"

Just would like to give some feedback.
The Sony F3 definitely works with the Atomos Shogun!

I did some tests and the setup really impressed me, it's simple/lightweight but powerful.
Until now, I didn't managed to output 4:2:2 1080 25p but this should be a matter of the settings.

Hi to all, I know this is an old post but maybe someone can help me. How do you setup the atomos Shogun anad F3 to output that? I'm testing this combo for a shoot in a couple of days, I've connected both with a Sdi cable, and the Atomos only shows No input. I've turned on the SDI/HDMI Out display on and the video out display on or off, and nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me?

Make sure the SDI cable is going into an input (and not output).

In the top-left of the Atomos, cycle through the I/O. I don't remember exactly what it says, but press buttons up there, take a look around.

If that doesn't work, try another cable and/or reset the camera settings.

Should work...it's a very straightforward connection.

EDIT
: Realizing you may be interested in 4:4:4 - and not a regular 4:2:2 lock - in which case a down-conversion may or may not be supported, I'm not sure. But 4:4:4 recording isn't possible on the Atomos.
