Recorded video is mostly blue

I recently video taped a meeting with my DVX-100B. All video on the view finder looked normal as did the image that I was recording on a back up recorder via fire wire (Thank God for the backup). On playback the tape from the DVX showed an image that was 75% - 85% blue. You an see footage on the left hand side of the screen, the rest is blue. There is a blocky jagged line where the footage turns to blue. Is this a tape problem? The tape I used following this tape turned out fine.
 
I tired playback on another camera and it was still blue. All other tapes recorded on the DVX since then have had no problems.

It sounds like you may have had a speck of dust or something on your heads. As Joshua said, cleaning the heads might be a good idea.
 
Yep, but that if that one tape was recorded with a dirty head, it's a goner. You can probably use it again, but you won't be able to cleanly recover the video, since it's not really there.

You just reminded me of one of the dumbest things someone ever wanted me to help them with. A guy shot his kid's school play or something. At some point, he accidentally stopped recording and wanted me to restore the chunk he missed.:shocked:
