-oh, yes, I did sign the petition but to no avail. Greetings, brethren.

Soren,

It will destruct at 100,000 views, make sure your computer is turned off that day...

did anybody actually buy a Hydra-enabled system? I mean is this something that I might look for on Ebay or other places? I did see an Andromeda-enabled Pana HVX100 on Ebay a few months ago. In fact, that's how I found this thread. If I do find one, what would a fair price be?

No Hydras were actually sold.

If it makes you feel any better, as I understand it, the DVX-100 modded Andromeda is actually slightly higher rez than the HVX would have been because of the native size of the chips.

I own an Andromeda. It's preposterous. Too bad Juan sold out.

Hmmm... so would that modded DVX, then, retain the sensitivity of the DVX but add the resolution of the HVX? If so, it would be a superior image then, for sure! (of course, the downside is no P2, no 60p, other format/shutter, etc.) - but, is this the case? (DVX sensitivity + HVX resolution?)

As for as sensitivity goes.... No technically it doesn't change BUT the lower light sensitivity you experience with an HVX or DVX (stock models) is actually faked.... Ever notice how freaking noisy those cameras are? Theres a reason for that. Yes, the Andromeda can be every bit as noisy, but if you want to truly make the Andromeda "sing", you need to realize its sensitivity will be far less, but the results are far better.

Just a small bit of advice, sensitivity isn't king. Most Hollywood films back in the day (80's and 70's) were shot on ISO 100 film stocks... or slower.

I saw the postings on the reel-stream forum but it has stopped last year.
Is the Andromeda and Hydra still in production?
Has the petition worked or the company closed?
Is there a way to get the Hydra carmaverick?
I hope that awesome techonology has died.....id love to get my hands on that one for my HVX.

Sorry to say that the technology is sold and there is no more Hydra.

Ye gods!
I thought this thread was dead and buried long ago
Forger Hydra, buy Scarlet, when it surfaces, A real designed-from-the-ground-up cam, not a kludge on the HVX.
Mods, can you burry this with a stake in its heart, so it won't come up next halloween.
Dave

Yeah, Scarlet would definitely be a better investment cause the technology is newer and the price is comparable.

The Hydra is dead, long live the Scarlet. :Drogar-Love(DBG):

So...Hydra is gone then...somebody knows to whom or who bought it?
Is that new company gonna use it for the same purpose?

Any news about the Scarlet?
