Does anyone know if the SDI port carries TC and record stop/start info. good to have for external recorders.
 
Yes, video, time code, two channels of audio, start stop info is from TC advancing and stopping. If using a Ki Pro, make sure its firmware is up to date, know that if you do playback in the camera, the Ki Pro will go into record.
 
There is a flag besides the timecode flag. The AF100 has a flag in it for starting record. I don't know if any recorders other than the HPG20 support it yet, but it exists, I've used it with an HPG20.
