I bought panasonic AG-DVX100B three months ago.I use it for weddings and other social activities.Sometimes when i stop recording and start it again i get a mixed video of old record and new record such it looks to photo, for some seconds. This started from the first shooting.I use only panasonic cassetes dvm63 and dvm83.I think that something goes wrong. Can you give me some information what i can do?

thanks for your help.

When you shoot 24p or 24pa extra fields are added in a 2:3 or 2:3:3:2 pattern so it conforms to the 60i rate during recording. These overlapped fields need to be removed during post in what is called pulldown removal. For every four frames made up of two interlaced fields eadch they are converted into a group of five interlaced frames which when viewed appear at a twenty four fps cadence.

Pattern for 24p is 2:3 or for the frames A,B,C,D represented by fields AA,BB,CC,DD become AA, BB, BC, CD, DD. Frames three and four contain the field pair you see in your image above.

Pattern for 24pa is 2:3:3:2 of for the frames A,B,C,D represented by fields AA, BB,CC, DD become AA, BB, BC, CC, DD. Frame three contains the field pair which you would see in your image above.

These crossover fields are normally removed during capture or placement in an 24fps timeline of your NLE.

Since these patterns are in groups of five frames, give yourself a little extra head and tail room on a shot.
