Recommended V-Mount Batteries to use with Steadicam (for Sony FS100)

If you're about to pull the trigger on a steadicam for the fs100, I'd like to deter you from getting the Pilot. It's weight limits makes it very unsuitable for the FS100 which will in no time exceed the 4.5 kg allowed before the Pilot arm buckles. I even have a modified Pilot which uses the smaller NP-F batteries, and still im in a pickle when you start adding accesories like mattebox etc.
I would definitely go for the Zephyr instead.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question about batteries, but in most cases wouldn't one assume that price follows quality? :)

I have no experience of that Steadicam battery but note that it is 100 w/hr

I have hawkwoods Vlocks and both 100w/hr and 70w/hr

The Hawkwoods 70w/hr is a lot lighter than the Hawkwoods 100w/hr .. I guess the Hawkwoods 70w/hr is a lot lghter than the Steadicam 100w/hr?

The 70w/hr is what I use on my Pilot which Ive just tried setting with my FS and seems OK.. ish

I have no intention to use heavy glass or a matte box - looking to enjoy the AF Ill pick up the 16 pancake at some time

Legrev is not wrong in that a bigger rig gives one more options.. and of course costs more

Personally Ive given up on N batteries which I just dont trust - no onboard level on the hawkwoods one that I own - and not enough welly to power two devices

Using the right cable you would be able to run the camera off the vlock up the post and a dummy battery - the sort of cable hawkwoods can make - powering the camera from down will save a little weight..

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
You've definitely given me some choices.

And in reply to Legrevedotcom, I was originally looking at the pilot, but quite a few posts I've seen regarding pilot use with the Sony FS100 has had people regreting their purchase and wishing they went for the Zephyr for the extra weight capacity, so I am looking at the Zephyr.

Oddly enough, through Vistek in Canada, the V-Mount model of the Zephyr is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the AB mount model. Not sure why that is.

Globalmediapro batteries may be just excellent!

... in case they reach you. I ordered 3 of them from Germany, where customs told me they were not allowed to be transported by plane (being big Li-ion batteries).
Now Globalmediapro claims I failed to pick them up and the package was lost on its way back. (No tracking nr. provided by them) And now they told me to just put up with the loss and be quiet: 1100 USD.

So think twice before ordering them from the EU. And from everywhere else: this is still the worst company policy I´ve ever experienced online.
