Recommended Titling Software for Vegas

Very cool effect. I've gotten a lot of use just using the leading and tracking coupled with the zoom. Haven't tried to do very much with the parent child tracks yet, but I think as with everything in Vegas, the deeper you allow yourself to go, the more the program does for you.

You can easily animate Vegas text making it fade-in, then dropping an effect over the fade. The "3D" effects look great, though the simple slides can also be slick.

You can also create titles in Photoshop (add text, bevel, drop-shadow, export as 24-bit PNG -- takes under a minute), and animate them in Vegas the same way.

Just yesterday I translated a couple Western Union commercials into two separate language versions, and was able to emulate the English titles almost perfectly.

But regardless of these tricks, Sony should make it easier for people to write their own plugins and generators.

What's the benefit of PNG files over using Photoshop files/layers, or jpg, etc.? Never have understood all the differences.

PNG's are faster than Photoshop files and also have 8-bit alpha so you get really smooth shadows and edges. GIF only have 1-bit alpha which create jaggy shadows and edges, and JPEG doesn't have any alpha.

It would be great if you could turn on/off Photoshop layers in Vegas -- maybe later!

Do PNG's have a higher bit alpha than Photoshop? Probably a stupid Q, as I'm sure it wouldn't have a better/higher alpha than the original.

Otherwise, I get what you're saying on the benefits over GIF and JPEG's. Can you have PNG's as transparencies as well?
