Recommended sequence of steps in post workflow

Hi
Relatively new to the world of DSLR post production. Have read as much as I can on various blogs about best practices in workflow but there still seems to be some disagreement about the sequence of steps to be taken, regardless of your NLE to ensure optimum final quality.
Based on what I've read this is my best guess so far
1-transcode(if necessary)
2-noise reduction(I forget the reasoning behind doing noise reduction first)
3-exposure, contrast correction to get all your footage looking correct and consistent
4-color correction to get all your footage looking correct and consistent
5-sound sync if using dual sound
6-the actual edit
7-any color grading, filters, efx, vignettes, etc
8-steadicam filters to remove shakiness if necessary
9-final render

Does the above make sense? How does your workflow differ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I prefer to do step 4 when doing step 7, the way I see it is if you have a lot of footage and you know you're going to cut out a lot of it, why create extra work for yourself? Also it depends what sort of work you'll be doing, as different types of film making can have differences in the way post is organised. Are you going to have all the footage at once to play with or will you be doing ongoing productions, for example.

Yeah, no sense in color correcting first. Not only will you cut most of the footage out, some color correction depends on the clips that are on either side of the edit.

Transcode and organize your footage. Then edit, then color correct, then color grade. And audio mixing/sweetening does not happen until picture is locked.
