Hello, i am new to this board and this is my first post. I hope i am asking in the right section. I just got my DVX100b not too long ago, and i am fairly new to modifying the scene files etc. I was just curious as to if there are any "recommended" scene file settings or if there is a site listing a few that people have standardized. I was looking around on this forum but didnt really find anything that helped my question.
Thanks in advance,

interesting. I wasnt aware that people liked to keep them to themselves for the most part. Oh well, i guess this just means its time for my own experimentation. :) Thanks rgb.

Scene Files

Hey man ... this is my first day too . Anyways ... one interesting thing to play with in 'scene file' (if i'm thinking of the right menu setting) is pedestal. You can create some really great things with it, especially if you want to change the time of day or night you are shooting in.

I just got my DVX about a year ago so i'm still getting used to it all.

Cool EyeBite... I didn't know this was a DVX forum. Thanks for the proper link!

I don't think its because people don't want to share settings as much as the image look is subjective. What I think looks good may not suit you and vice-a-versa. Also the settings are likely to vary depending on the the subject matter, lighting and artistic purpose.

If you don't have have Barry Green's DVX book and DVD you need to get it. The DVD gives visual examples of how changing the scene file settings like gamma, color temp, matrix, etc. affect the video output.

I would also recommend that you spend a day shooting the same scene with different settings. Start with straight 60i and change settings like detail, master pedestal and chroma. Also use the Cinelike features for Gamma and Matrix to see the difference these make. Do the same with 24p and possibly 30p.

This will give some good comparisons to help you see the control you have. As you change settings recite the settings into the camera's mic to log these with the footage so you won't be confused later.

Good shooting

Hey, I was actually the guy who made that thread over there, that was a duplicate of my thread here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=41088

Just wanted to note that, in case someone here wanted to reply with their own settings to keep "in the family." =)

That's exactly what I was gonna say, that someone HERE had posted that b4.
but I never found that thread again, thanx 4 posting the link again

later

Be sure to read through that entire thread, Eyebite was using the preset white balance for those settings, which cancels out the color temp settings. Color Temp only works with the manual white balance.

Happy Tweaking.
