I think Tim Dashwood's been building a library of looks.

I haven't built a library of creative looks yet (3 Kings look, Amelie look, etc.), but I am attempting to graph the results of different curve settings. I will publish my results by the weekend.

Here's what I've got so far. Strictly technical settings, I haven't had time to create any "creative" looks. Have fun. Tim

Tim, if you want to send that to JVC, I bet they'd love to put it on their website. Talk to Dave Walton, I think he'd be quite interested...

Wouldn't JVC already have all of this information from their own engineers?
At least Canon put some approximation of curves in the XL2 manual! I hope JVC does a rewrite soon.

great tim... what about your detail settings?

Barry and I are doing some resolution/detail tests now. One of us should have it figured out by this weekend.
From my limited testing I can tell you I WON'T BE TURNING IT DOWN if I want to get HD resolution.

You guys absolutely, completely ROCK....

I keep my detail about plus 2 - 4. tried your setups already great. This might be a dunb question but what is filmout? It came out really dark.

The filmout curve is designed for shooting video for film recording/blow-up to 35mm. The idea is to maintain contrast (because traditional film timing can't control contrast, just RGB) and keep the blacks black. This response of this curve is pretty straight 45degrees, so you can let your chosen film stock contribute its own characteristics when it is printed.
I suppose if you were doing a digital intermediate this curve is of less use.

I was about to say I didn't see a linear representation to accomodate straight RGB. What do the stock curves look like and what color do they favor?
