Recommendations on, not if, but WHERE to buy the HMC150...

Looks like Henry's word is good. Mine has shipped finally - ordered April 28 - seems like right on the line when they ran out. I think when I ordered they had them and then when they went to process my order they were out.

It's funny how a product can suddenly become scarce - does Panasonic do that on purpose? It's like they're Cabbage Patch dolls or something. It's funny.

It's not just Panny. Right now Canon USA is in the middle of an "instant rebate" program advertising lenses we (and other reputable retailers) are having a terrifically difficult time obtaining.

Hey, one other thing to add - if you order from B&H (or get it on eBay) you should check out Microsoft's Live.com cashback program. I think it's 2% back on B&H (I got 8% back on my Ebay purchase - to the max of $200). All you have to do is start your search from Live.com (using the cashback link) and be using IE browser (I know...I don't like Microsoft much either, but hey, it's like free money back on purchases I was already going to make).

BTW, I get no benefit from sharing this info...just passing it along.

True indeed. I had my eye on it at B&H for a while when it was at $3149. And literally the NEXT day i checked it was back up to it's present price. I found it for $3285. but I am almost scared to divulge the location lest it be jacked up again.

Does B&H do any kind of price matching? I would love to buy it from a palce close to me, but $200+....
 
I just pulled the trigger on a package from B and H.

I was thinking for a brief moment for going for one of those too good to be true e-bay packages, because they're so much cheaper, but I trust B and H.

I almost had a panic attack--I've never charged such a large amount on my credit card. I'm very nervous, but also really excited.

According to our database the price change happened May 5th.

When we can. We consider each such inquiry individually taking into account numerous factors including availability, the other retailer's price, the total out-the-door cost incl s&h and so on.
 
I am looking to buy one as soon as I see it at a better price. I would like to order from B&H but hate ordering at a higher price than what it has been in the past....

Henry, I just checked D.R.'s Video Emporium & Nail Salon, and they have it for $1999. What do you think, can you match that?
 
Yep, their price went up just like all the others. They do have the external battery for $20 if you buy the cam, so it hurts a little less, but yes, the cheapy cheap price is gone.
 
So, apparently my camera is on backorder from B and H. How long does this mean I'm going to have to wait? Anybody have a rough idea? Am I talking weeks or months?
 
I'm sure B&H can give you the best estimate, but I would expect 1-2 months at the max based on other people's reports lately. Others have been told it would take 4-7 weeks and then rec'd their order in 14 days.

I'm somewhat glad that the 150 has been hard to get. It made me give the 5DMkII another look.

But now that I want the Canon, it's out of stock after being available as recently as last week.

I just can't win.

They also have the extended batteries in stock, I was getting worried as alot of places were out of them. Ordered one the second they went back in stock.
