Recommendations on a Tripod?

I'd like to get recommendations from you guys for Tripod systems that would cost $600 more or less.

It must be a mid-spreader and for right now I'm only going to be mounting the HC-X1000 and SLR's on it, eventually I might get a DVX-200.

Did you try the sticky at the top of the Support Gear forum?
I'd have to read every single page for that and most of the replies are no longer current it seems.
Or just a basic search? It's been addressed approximately 3,472,221 times.

Do a search on Red User as well if you want to see what heaver cameras are going on.
Again they are no longer current.

I already have a few in mind but I wanted opinion from somebody else.

I got the Ace M two years ago, but kept having trouble with kickback on pans. I solved that by replacing the legs with the Manfrotto 535 carbon fiber ones. I don't advise taking this expensive approach, but my point is to be sure to check out whatever you get during the return period.

Return policies are non-existent from where I'm from. Other than that, any other complaints? I wanted the FSB4 but then saw the price.

Well, as mentioned the weak link with the Ace is the legs - they are not the best although I've had no problems with durability.

If I had it to do again, I would probably look also at the Benro models - have you seen this?
