FS7: Recommendation for data display

Recommendation: Always leave the data display (Output Display) on for the SDI 2 port. If anything happens to the viewfinder, like your assistant leaving it behind and realizing it after a 2-hour drive, you'll still be able to access menus via a monitor and change parameters. You'll also be able to change clip file names from Billy_Bob_Bong_Shop to High_Profile_Corporate on the fly. IMO, the cable which connects the viewfinder to the camera body is fragile, and is likely to fail at some point. Be ready for that day.

You can always lose the data display for SDI 2 at the beginning of a shoot, but I strongly recommend that you change it back before you're done for the day. (I actually dodged a bullet yesterday by setting up the camera the night before, but I heard that bullet whistle by my ear...)

Yup, great idea. Of all my issues with the FS7, the fact I can't have a spare cable for the VF is the one that frightens me the most, especially considering how flimsy is it.
