Recommendation for a Flare Resistant full frame Zoom for A7s?

Hello,

I am looking for a full frame zoom lens to use with A7s, and so far a few one I test performs very well in terms of sharpness, colour and boken, but resistant to flare seems to be all of their problems, all of them flares badly when shooting directly or next to the light sources:

Tokina 28-70mm F2.6-2.8 AT-X (Angenieux Design)
Angenieux 35-70 F2.5-3.3
Minolta MD 35-70/3.5
Canon 24-105/4 L

Also tested the Sony Zeiss FE 24-70/4 lens but hated the focus by wire, anyone tried to use the Zeiss 24-70/2.8?

Anyone got any recommendation for a lens with good resistance to flare? Better with a fixed aperture and more than 2x the zoom range.

Thanks!

I have the Leica R 35-70 but it can show some ghosting when pointed straight at a sunset.
Not much can resist that but I'd like to see a Canon 24-70 L MKII under the same circumstances.

Are you sure it isn't the adapter that is flaring? Some of these adapters (in particular ones like the Commlite EOS one) have shiny plastic side walls that bounce light back into the barrel where it normally shouldn't. Hence, a lens like the Canon 24-105/L wouldn't flare so badly on an actual Canon body, it WILL on an A7S.

Flocking the adapter fixed this problem for me.

I'd add the Sony Zeiss ZA 24-70 and the 16-35, both very well engineered modern lenses and with an adapter should perform very well.

(they're also proper lenses unlike the FE 24-70 which relies on electronic undistortion...)

cheers
Paul

Thanks for the tip, never thought its the problem with the adapter, will have a look this weekend to see who is the true culprit...

Yeah I think heavily leaning towards selling the FE 24-70 and getting the ZA, this video shows the lens is very promising.
