Recommend some "Weird" Movies

Weird is a wide-range definition, but I'll try...

Begotten (1991) - an experimental splatter monochromatic silent movie

Persona (1966) - Ingmaar Bergmans best one, according to many. Here's a first 01:15, I'd describe them as 'weird'. link

Check out other Bergmans film as well, The Seventh Seal etc.

Takashi Miike has really weird films. Fudoh, Ichi The Killer and Visitor Q are among the top. They're also very violent, but WEIRD.

And of course, the legendary Un Chien Andalou.

You really should bend that rule and watch Un Chien Andalou. It's THE original "weird" film. Also, it's public domain, so you can legally download it.

I just might.

Checked out The Holy Mountain yet?

Currently my Netflix account is 1 at a time, so I just sent back "Teeth" and I have "Ed Wood", coming up next... I haven't upgraded my account yet, but I think I might do 8 at a time with all these suggestions here, and I'm putting "The Holy Mountain" up there, now I'm extra curious.

Wouldn't quite say too wierd, but Divorce Italian Style is very underrated.

Plot wise it's a bit of a dark comedy with very wierd values, but mainly I like how its style is a bit anachronistic...not something you'd expect to see, story and style wise, from a 60s film.

And while you're at it, check out another Harmony Korine film, which is arguably even weirder than Gummo, Julien Donky-Boy. It's got Werner Herzog high on cough syrup, a "full retard" Ewen Bremner, and a dead baby... Don't ask, just see it for yoruself.

I finally had time to go through all the suggestions and added a majority of the movies suggested to my Netflix, I have the 5 movies at a time plan, so it shouldn't take me long to get through all of them... Still haven't gotten that Holly Mountain yet, can't wait to check it out.

After my weirdness quest, I wanna start loading up on some Real Indie films.

I like the original Funny Games myself...

Gerry - by Gus Van Sant

Tarnation - by Johnathan Caouette (edited on imovie and cost just $218 to make!)

Man Bites Dog

American Movie - by Mark Borchardt

A woman under the Influence - John Cassavettes

The killing of a chinese bookie - John Cassavettes

The Fall - Tarsem Singh

I like these films anyway :)

Battle In Heaven is the weirdest movie ever made. Check it out. I dare you.

I'll check this out, and I'm going to be watching Silent Night tonight, but I'd be very surprised if Battle in Heaven it tops The Holy Mountain, but it's got potential from the title.
