Recommend a Mac Please

...like for instance: a Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Dual Xeon, which is mid configuration.

Then get at least 8 gig of RAM from Crucial.com (cheaper and good stuff).

If possible get one or two 23'' Display (it's incredible).

Have fun editing DVCPro HD, you deserved after all this $$.

Hi,

Anyone have any suggestions on purchasing a MAC for editing with Final Cut Pro HD? Thanks.

Remember for PPC Macs you need FCS 5.0.4 or better.

For Intel Macs, you need FCS 5.1 or better.

Give us a price range.

The 2.66 GHz Xeons run about $2499.00. Another Gigabyte of RAM is about $200.00. A second 400 Gb SATA internal is $120.00.

Remember you need a monitor and FCS 5.1 or later.

8gb of RAM is kind of over kill for just editing FCP even DVCPRO HD.

The new iMacs are great, but if you need to be, going portable is perfect. A Macbook Pro + External monitor is wonderful!

So I take it just about any new Mac will do, even a notebook. We are making instructional basketball videos and won't get overly fancy with effects. Will arond a $2000 IMac do? Do the Macbooks have any real limitations besides hard drive? I do have a 1TB external.

Macbook Pro systems are just as fast as the iMac desktops. For 2000 you can get the very best iMac 24" available. I have it and its simply awesome! Screams in all apps. I also have a Macbook Pro (core duo) that screams as well. It will be up for sale soon as right now i dont have a use for it and i need money for the PS3 and Wii.
