Recommend a Glidecam for this setup...

I'm looking to get a Glidecam system (body vest and all) but I'm not sure which one I'll need. I want something that I can use with just my HVX alone and also the HVX with a Firestore and a full Brevis35 system.

I've been looking at the Glidecam 4000 and the V-20. There's a pretty big price difference between the two, so I need to know which one would be best. One of the main factors is which one will give enough weight support without being overkill.

I'm also open to other Glidecam systems and other brands as well.

First: How do you plan to control focus with your brevis? that system will have to be included in the weight figures for capacity.
Add up the weight of all those parts and you'll get an idea of what class of rig you are lokign for.

What is your budget? and what type of shooting will you be doiong with the system?

Terve,

I would mostly use wide angle lenses on the Brevis and keep my subjects at the same distance so I wouldn't need to focus as much. But I suppose I could put a focus controller on the handle.

I'd like to keep the price at around $3000 but I can go a little higher if no sytem matching my needs can be found for that price.

The Glidecam Smooth Shooter with a 4000 supports 4 to 10 lbs and costs $2300. The V-20 supports 15-26 lbs and costs $3700. Then the V-16 supports 10-20 lbs and costs $3800.

So I'm not sure if any of them can support both the light weight of the camera alone and then with the camera and Brevis.

How about the Pilot? Though with a full on brevis set up (depending on support options and the lens) you could push past 10lbs.

my friend has a similar setup and hes got it all hooked up with his glidecam 4000 pro with the smooth shooter. i have one as well but no adapter yet.

although i would recommend not going past a 28mm lens, otherwise it will be difficult to keep subjects in focus.

According to the stats, the 4000pro can only hold up to 10 lbs. Doesn't your friend's setup go over that?
