from what I've heard, that cannot be done once formatted, I have heard of trying to repair clips damaged from loss of power while recording, but never from a reformatted card.
Anyone else have any ideas? situation sounds painful.

I don't want to sound like a teacher here, but please remember when you shoot to solid state (or hard drive for that matter) ALWAYS backup our footage before sending it away for editing or somebody else. In the beginning I found this a real pain in the ***, but evnetually it becomes a part of the shooting workflow, at the end of the day all P2 cards are backeup to a hard drive, and from this hard drive copies are made to clients, edit suites etc. I keep ALL my raw footage in archive.
More than once something has been lost or otherwise compromised, and then my archive saved the day. I charge clients for this (hidden in the daily fee), since they save on tapecosts anyway.
