I don't know if anyone else has the same experience I have with their Panasonic AG-DVX100B $400 rebate offered if purchased between February 1, 2006 and May 30, 2006.
I recently submitted my rebate form. Today I received a rejection from The Advertising Checking Bureau--who I assumed handled the promotion for Panasonic--saying that the rebate must be postmarked no later than 7/31/06. I called and spoke to a young lady who said that the expiration date was "all over the website." She said she was over the program and her "administrator told me to tell everyone it was all over the website and there are no exceptions." That tells me someone screwed up and is now covering it up.
Prior to submitting my rebate I scanned the rebate form for information on an expiration date. There was none. I still have a copy, and I've looked again to see if I was wrong. I'm not. It isn't there.
So I went back to the Panasonic website knowing they have regular rebates on that camera to review the rebate form now online. On the website it says "For full Terms and Conditions and to download the claim form, please click here," which takes me to the pdf version of the rebate form with the terms and conditions spelled out. This is the only place information about the postmark requirement is "all over the website."
Line #6 of the current rebate form has a postmark requirement followed by the sentence, "Panasonic Corporation of North America is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected mail." Line #6 of MY rebate form from February through May 2006 has only the above sentence.
I am curious if anyone else has experienced this same thing with Panasonic and their rebate offer from February 1, 2006 - May 30, 2006. Also, anyone who did receive a rebate for their purchase during this time, if you have a copy of your rebate form.
I know there is a woman who visits and posts on this site who is a VP or something like that with Panasonic. I know this because when I first purchased my camera and was verifying that it wasn't "gray"--which it isn't--I was given her name and number to contact. I soon found her name on this website when she posted information about the rebate offer that was made just after the one I am referring to. I hope that she reads this post and will look into this issue.
Since this young lady seemed to slam the proverbial door in my face, I am seeking others to see if this is some sort of cover up of a SNAFU on their part. Although I am not a litigious person, I may consider legal action. Rebates are used to lure potential customers into buying a product during a specified time frame. These comapanies undoubtedly count on very few people actually returning the rebate and even fewer complying with all the requirements of the rebate. I complied with every requirement listed on the official form that contained the terms and conditions. I will not be taken advantage of in this way.
