Rebate on 32Gb SxS cards...

I was looking at the Sony site and spoted this $200 rebate on a double purchase of the 32Gb SxS-1 cards.

http://www.rebate-zone.com/ConfirmRebate.asp?function=submit&method=open&current=true&pid=31400

"End user purchasers may receive $200 rebate by mail following the purchase of (2) Two SBS32G1 model Sony 32GB SxS-1 Memory cards." Ends March 31st, 2010.

The trick is the firmware to run the card on a PMW-EX1 won't be available until Spring 1010, after the rebate expires. They do run on the EX1R now.

There is this one:

Man what a drag!.... I bought two 32gig SXS-1 cards nine days before the program started. That's what I get for ordering too early! Dang it...

I don't see the 400.00 rebate for purchasing the EX1R - if you signed up for an on-line seminar. That's supposed to be good until the end of February.

Hmmm... interesting idea. I think I'll just accept the situation as it is... I did the $400 rebate for the camera though.. still checking the mail box.

How did that 400.00 rebate work? I signed up for the on-line seminar thing. After you purchased the caera, how do you get the 400.00 back?

I did the online seminar thing too. Actually, someone on this forum mentioned the rebate and had a link to it. I trolled around a while a few times before I figured it out.

instructions say after you turn in a copy of the invoice and take the sku off the box the EX1R came in, you send in the info in and wait about six weeks. They give you a choice between $400 cash or $600 in Sony gear.

Time to go check the mail box!

Waitaminute.. I thought the 1.1 firmware that's been in the wild over a year added 32GB SxS support to the EX1?

Worldwide offer? Couldn't find any details on that, other then not being able to select 'a sony dealer near me', since that stupid site is US only oriented.

On top of that I figured an official dealer is about 400 euro more expensive then some other retailers I found. So much for a rebate from Sony!

Oh, okay. Thanks for clarifying. That's a relief, as I'm not planning on using the -1 cards but getting the regular type, the next time I purchase more cards.

Has anyone been using the Sandisk cards? Not the MxR, MxM or KxS, but the ones B&H offers for $159 for 8gb?

Do they run all speeds and last as long as the Sony 8gb?

Yep, no problems with the one that I have. I'll buy more as soon as I can afford it.
