rebate fraud?

So i bought my DVX100b and put in for my $400 rebate about three months ago. I finally got a response back and it said that my serial number was invalid and i dont get my rebate. :(. But, the grand people at panasonic helped me out. I guess there have been some fraudulant claims with the DVXs. They filed for the rebate before I did so thats why mine didnt go through, but because i had the UPC code, my rebate gets to go through. It will just take another 6 weeks. anyone else have this happen to them?

Yes I've heard of this. My dealer told me there was an issue but reassured me that the rebates were valid. Sending mine off tomorrow. I will let you know how long it takes. JB

I recently got a letter saying my camera's serial number was invalid. I know my serial number is valid because I already received the book and Magicbullet software. I also bought the camera from an authorized dealer.
I sent off an email and even called the Panasonic rebate center. They apologized and assured me that all was good and that I should be receiving my $400.00 soon.
Not sure why this happened?
I have feeling the people at these rebate centers want you to work a little harder before they release a check. They probably make good money on people who give up.

Yeah, I checked through the rebate website and found out that my rebate serial number was invalid. However it also says that they just sent out a check for $400 to me on May 5th. Hope it gets here soon.

I think you might be right.

I submitted my Rebate in early Feb.
Website kept saying "check in process".

I sent a couple e-mails with no reply.

I finally called, and they said, "were sending it out today".

Why did it take me to contact them numerous time before they sent it?

Let's see if it arrives.

I beleive there is a little bit of deception going on with
Panasonic or the rebate processor, with the rebates.
And since it is Panasonic's responsibility to make sure
the company they hired to do the rebates is doing the job right,
I feel the resonsibility lies with Panasonic.
So far, I'm not impressed.
There was no paperwork inside my camera box telling
me where and how to apply for a rebate.
I was able to get the info on where to apply from Panasonic
(which I appreciate).
When I tried filling out the info on the web site it would
not process my information claiming I was not putting
the date purchased correctly. I did it at least 10 times
exactly as they requested. I was never able to get through.
I finally called the rebate company (the Panasonic Helpdesk
800 number) the woman I spoke with was very nice and
helpful. When I asked to make sure that i would get the
paperwork for Barry's DVX book. She sounded surprised
and said "Oh, most people don't know about the book and
if they don't ask for it we don't send it to them."
So...they don't put the paperwork in the camera anymore
which would tell you about the DVX book. And if you don't
ask for ti you don't get it.
Nice way to for Panansonic or the rebate company
to save some money.
And as far as it being so hard to obtain the rebate that people
give up. That's the whole idea of rebates.
But I really thought given the large sum of this rebate and the fact
that Panasonic would want to keep thier customers happy so that
they would have loyalty for future camera purchases, that Panasonic
would be very good about this rebate.
So...I've had my camera for 2 1/2 months and still do not have
Barry's book/DVD... nor the rebate...of course.

I think you're dead-on pud. The thing of it is, I got my book and dvd without any problem at all, but the rebate is a problem. Funny, I did the exact same thing you did online.

I also fall into this category of " there was a problem with your serial #". I have been assured that the "problem" has been cleared up and an authorization to make payment has been issued. A check will be mailed in about 6 - 8 weeks. I purchased my DVX 100b from BH Photo on 04/10/06 and promptly sent in the forms including one for the book & software. I keep calling and they keep telling me the book and software will ship "the end of the week". I should have asked what week? Several weeks have gone by with no book & software! I am sure "the check is in the mail" also. This takes some of the edge off the satisfaction with my purchase, especially since so many others are having this problem.

I got my DVX100B from Abel Cine in Burbank in March. Must have been early stock because the book and software were inside the box. Submitted my rebate online and it shows processed date of 03/22/06. I called the 866 number today, 05/23, and the gal on the other end said that my check is ready to mail out BUT they were awaiting for a final approval from Panasonic. She told me "any day now." It's only been a couple of weeks past their "4 - 6 weeks after processing" date, so I'll just hang in there I guess.

Is it just the rebate that you can't do online? Cause I filled out the form on the website indicated on the "thank you" letter. Will I still get the book and dvd or will I have to send it through the mail?

I will say I've had my doubts along the way with the rebate. I submitted my info online (probably was one of the last people to be able to do so) and my check was "in process" since 3/01. I finally received my check on 5/22. Got pretty close to doubling the 4-6 weeks ;p but it came! So, if you're waiting for your rebate just be patient. It'll come... eventually.

I just got mine last week and submitted it online last friday. If you go to the web site, there is a link to check the status. You will need the confirmation number given to you when you submit it. I just checked and it just says the check has not been printed yet.

If I try not to think about it too hard, I might forget I could use the money, so when it does come, well, what a nice surprise :)

We bought our DVX100b from B&H on Feb 2nd, and sent the rebate form in immediately. We just got the check yesterday, almost 3-1/2 months later. We never called or anything, just waited. Anyway, it took FOREVER but it actually came.

So all I can say is it should come, it will just take some time.

So I just bought my DVX from Willoughby's in NY (they're an authorized dealer) but can't find anything about the rebate in the box. Can somebody post the link to the online submission form? Thx.

Well, I've only found a PDF form on Panny's site. Judging by this thread the online rebate is much more efficient however I can't find it anywhere on the site. A specific link would be very much appreciated.

My Personal Rebate Update: I called the company that handles the rebates and explained my situation. She agreed that they have had problems with this and assured me that they were sending me my rebate. Sure enough, yesterday my rebate check came. My advice: give them a call and they'll be happy to remedy the situation. Good luck guys!

I am thinking that the general idea of rebates is dumb. They should just discount the product in the first place so people don't have to fool around with this gimmick... or else employ more people to be able to handle the rebate processing.
