Reassure me that Im doing the right thing. Trading D90 for 7D

I can only afford this if I also go from a Nikon 18-200mm VRII to a Canon 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Standard Zoom Lens.

Am I making the right move??

Ok so I am not making the right move? I dont understand. I mentioned I can only afford to change with the Lens mentioned.

Can I use my Nikon Lens Still?

USM AF stands for Utrasonic Motor Auto Focus.

The Ultrasonic Motor (USM) in Canon EF lenses is the world's first lens-based ultrasonic motor. Based on a totally new technology, the motor spins by ultrasonic oscillation energy. The USM is quiet and quick. It has made EF lenses almost noiseless and autofocusing fast, precise and practical. The direct-drive construction is very simple, with no gear train. This makes it durable and efficient. It also consumes little power. Two types of USM are used: Ring-type USM and Micro USM. The former type is found in large-aperture and super telephoto lenses, while the latter is used in more compact lenses. Using the optimum type of USM in the lens results in maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

The EFS-18-200 does have AF just not USM.

I think you can get by with that lens. The most important thing is to get into the 7D. I think it's a better move than staying with the D90, IMO.

i went from a d90 to 7d and never looked back. Grew up in a nikon house, so it really killed me to switch camps, but nikon just wasnt being competative anymore.

Loving it, the 7D really makes up for nearly all of hte d90's short commings. I shot 5 shorts, a documentary and an add with the D90, working on my first stuff with the 7d now (still editing), buti really love it

That said, i really did like the d90 for stills a little more, but mostly cause i guess im just used to nikon setup.
