really want to use my D90 for small project

I'm planning to do a short film and would like to use my D90. It's a very simple piece with one location and one actor preforming a monologue. I've got an array of manual, nikkor primes (28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 105mm f/1.8 and 135mm f/2.8). I've done some tests with my gear and I'm concerned with the softness of the D90. If I have to I'll rent a different body but I'd really like to get this to work with my D90.
I've scoured theses boards and found a ton of valuable information. I'm just hoping for insight or advice to push me one direction or the other. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You know, there's a sticky at the very top of this forum called "Understanding and Optimizing the Nikon D90 D-Movie Mode Image." If that doesn't help you, then I really can't imagine what will.

At the end of the day, if you're not happy with the results that you're getting with the optimal settings (as described by Kholi in that sticky), then the only logical conclusion is to use something else. To be attached to the idea of using something that doesn't satisfy you is simply not reasonable when there's something better out there that's easily obtainable.
