Really Need Some Help

Is there any sort of factory default settings for the DVX? I'm guessing not but I thought I'd ask. It seems that my DVX will capture audio/video just fine but it suddenly decided that it didn't want to give it up to FCP. I get that mosaic pixely look wherever there is movement. So I tried putting the tape into my little JVC and FCP captured it perfectly. Oh....when I view through DVX'S VCR it looks great, it's just the capturing process that's screwed up. So I'm hoping that the DVX is just a little confused for some reason and maybe I can find a cure through some sort of reset. Looking for help cause I'm probably going to screw up my fly fishing camera by running these Pano tapes through it.

Thanks,

Marlene

I believe that you can reset the scene files , but I don't think thats what you want. My advice is to use a cheap camera as a deck, you don't want to run up the dvx's head hours capturing. You can also call a Panasonic service center and ask if this is a common problem.

Thanks for the response.....I guess until I find out what is wrong, I'll keep using my JVC as a deck.

You may have a little dust on your DVX heads and that's why it's not looking right on capture. Try using a head cleaning tape for about 5 seconds and see if this improves your situation.

Do as the horseman says... tip: never rewind your headcleaning tape. Play 5 seconds then stop and use the headcleaner til finished then time for a new one.

I was sure hoping that was going to work, but, it didn't. It seems like if it was dust on the heads then the breaking up would be all the time, but, it only breaks up where there is movement. I guess that as long as it records ok then I can just continue to use another camcorder for capture.

Thanks,
