Hi
I would appreciate any information regarding the process you people go through when transfering your footage to the PAL - world.
After reading Barry's review of the HPX500, I know this camera would be perfect for the job, but it is out of financial reach right now so here is what I have to work with:
I'll be shooting a reality show here in the U.S on the HVX 200 (NTSC) for a client in Europe. I will also post - produce this material in FCP, and will then deliver the finished program to the client. I do want to shoot in HD for obvious reasons, but the delivery will be SD Pal. My questions are:
1. What HD format would you suggest for shooting ? And what are the benefits of those? (I want to reserve the 24PN option for special effects and I will do some timelapsing, too. The pace of the show is fairly normal - i.e. no fast moving objects/people- more like a documentary style - the Osborns come to mind as an example)
2. Later, in the NLE, what timeline would be most efficient to work with keeping in mind that the finished material should be PAL SD ?
3. What software/hardware do you use to do the transfer from HD NTSC to PAL SD? Or should I leave it to a pro shop to do the transfers for me?
I want to stress that I need to keep the original HD footage so downscaling or shooting in DVCPRO 50 is not possible during the filming.
The budget is really small too, so the most economized advice would be appreciated.
Thanks !
