Hi guys!

So I got some response on my previous trailer that it was in fact just a sucky "trailer".
I didn't mean for it to be taken that seriously, but some people (not here on dvxuser) took it that way.

But I sort of agreed with them :P

So here's a new teaser-trailer for our new short!
I really hope you like it!

EDIT:
Here's a short synopsis:
About a guy and a girl.
They are both confused/depressed/sad.
They are looking for their identity in different places.
The guy is literally looking for a type of light that is supposed to give him peace. The girl is looking for herself in magazines, café's, boys, music, partying, yeah you name it.

The second one is definately better (music less bombastic and no text in between shots). Some well composed shots. I like the overall look. Very curious to the result.

mmmm..i like the look and the shots ..the music...well i like it all except how it was edited. i dont feel like i know anything about the story. i mean its clear they are searching...and its also said in the title...but this feels like alot of random (good looking) shots IMO.

Thanks, well actually.. it's pretty hard to tell you a story when it's all "mute-film".
There is no dialogue to explain anything so we're relying on good use of imagery.

So the film, like the trailer, has no dialogue?
Searching for peace, self. Sounds like some very interesting, if fairly abstract, concepts.

Best of luck, can't wait to see it!

No dialogue at all no :P hehe

Yeah, the running scene was fun (but excruciating) to shoot.
My back suffered from it :D

Man, theres some pretty shots in there. shi*s in the face of those that say DVX is outdated.

Anyway - too long. Seriously if you cut this down to about 30 seconds, cut it tighter and concentrated on key shots - start 15 seconds of the more reflective stuff, jump into the higher energy stuff at the end I think you could generate some more interest, outside the DVX / film forum crowd. This isnt for the most part the target audience. I always start with my sister, shes what I call a qualified viewer, knows absolutely nothing of the production process, but 9 times out of 10 if you show her something that invokes emotion and she likes it, it actually works for general viewers.

Thanks so much for good criticism!

I'm not sure if I will make a new trailer now, but it's at least good to know for future projects!

Nice work. I'm pretty sure I get the idea there... Nicely done. And I would love to know your scene settings, color grading, and how you uprezzed to HD. Oh, and check your PM's.

Thanks man:)
Good that you got the idea  hehe

Scene settings:
Scene file: f6

Detail level: -4
Master Ped: -8

Those are the two settings I adjusted in camera.
Everything else is preset f6.

Color grading:
Magic Bullet Looks.
I can show some screencaps:
magicbulletrawwith.jpg

magicbulletrawwith3.jpg

magicbulletrawwith2.jpg

Uprezzing:
Export from adobe premiere pro as a .avi file (no compression).
I then type in 1050x576 (PAL country, don't know what the pixels would be for NTSC users)
Sqare pixels!.. very important..

Then I use quicktime pro to export the .avi file with the h.264 codec and I just choose the size in there: 1280x720.

There's that

Hope it helps!

Yeah! Definately much better! Like night and day. Music is much more introspective. Noel mentioned some pretty good tips that I'll take with me as well. I really liked that shot of the girl at the sink and the alley with the candles.

Thanks man:)
The alley shot?
Nice, that's actually not going in the final cut though.. but.. you'll see why :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

I love your work Tomas, from the day I came to this forum and I first saw your work I said to myself man, i'm gonna love playing with my DVX when I get it!

Out of all the DVX footage around here, you consistently continue to show the world that the DVX is still a king. You have a way of producing the goods mate, love your work, love this piece and want to see the finished product. You have awesome grading skills as well.

Thank you so much for the compliment man!

It really motivates me and in a way pushes me to continue with this.

I just started as a freelancer now, and it's kind of risky here in Norway. At least in the town I live in.

But yeah.. when I hear stuff like this, it really makes me want to go for it!
