Ready To Purchase Prime Lens

Hey Guys, I got a GH1 a little over a month ago and have familiarized myself with it and feel it's time to start working on different lens to see what works and what doesn't. Is there a lens that's built specifically for low light and another built for shooting outdoors? Thanks.

Study lens "speed" or F value. "faster" lenses will have lower F values and will allow you to shoot in lower light. Shooting outdoors will require higher F values but will change your depth of field. You might look into using neutral density filters instead of buying another lens.

yep get a 20mm if you want a no brainer. you will be nothing less than happy with the purchase. then you can pick yourself up a cheap canon 50mm f1.4 or something to see how you like the full manual lens feel.

I bought a manual nikon 20mm f2.8; it is slower but the advantage is it's not 4/3 lens so you can use it on other camera types. I like the flexibility of switching lenses between GH1 and my 35mm adapter cam.

For the users of the pancake lens can you use it with a follow focus? I looked at one at a camera shop and it seemed so close to the body that it would be difficult but I haven't used one.

It is too close to the body to use with a follow focus. I mainly got that lens for photography, for portability, and for the great sharpness it gives on closeups.....it's a pore deepening crag enhancing lens and I mean that in a good way...it makes people seem raw, real, and damaged...perfect for really dramatic work.
