Reading Metadata in FCP

I know that raylight can recognize the User Clip Field, and with an SD card you can then have your p2 files actually named things such as:

Scene 01 Take 001, ect.

My question is, without using raylight or CS3 is there any other way to have FCP recognize the Clip Name?

So far P2CMS can read User Clip Name, which is nice for using for selects, but once you export your selects to folder that FCP can then ingest, it exports it with the original file names. I don't think there is a way to tell P2CMS to save the file using clip names right?

Nope. FCP ignores the User Clip Name field. If you used Avid or Premiere on your Mac you would have access to it, but FCP ignores it, so you'll have to nag Apple to please update their software to take advantage of that feature.

That's pretty poor....I think if you use P2 Log software you can export to FCP and it can change the file name to your user clip name....Bit of a hassle and unnecessary money spending....

I was getting so excited about being able to name each clip for the editor too....Poo poo poo

Yes, You can rename your clips using P2 log. Since I use my powerbook when I shoot to download the p2 cards it really isn't such a bad deal.
