You're way better off with a used DVX100, which you can get at that price.

Whatever you do, don't get an XL1. XL1s if you have to, but I would take a high end single chip camera over an XL1.

I would definitely take a dvx100 over a XL1, but I haven't been able to find one near that price. I would just wait and save up for a DVX100A but I need it for school as soon as possible.

They're around. Just look hard and be patient. My first DVX was around $US 2000 used, and that was back in January of 2004, so you should be able to find something like that now for sure.

I'll keep on the look out then. I guess probably a good idea would be the change the subject to dvx100.
