Re: Which Codec is safe to use for Slog2 grading?

Which codec setting (i.e. AVCHD 24mbps vs AVCHD 28mbps vs MP4 vs XAVC) is safe to use for Slog2 and some light grading (not heavy grading). I am looking for the SMALLEST footprint possible but with the most dynamic range.

Obviously XAVC is the safest route to go, but is a heavier footprint (although lighter than the GH4!).

So which is the smallest but safe at the same time?

I would go for XAVC-S, shooting slog2 on an 8-bit code is already a stretch, you don't want to compromise it any further. Files are not huge anyway, it's the same bitrate of the 5D2 (but with a much better codec).

I guess that is what I am curious, how much compromise is there with AVCHD when using SLOG2?

Well, since the definition of "safe" is going to be very subjective, I think you're going to have to run some tests yourself...
