Don't blow any air in the camera, you will probably end up moving the sand deeper inside the camera, and possibly cause scratches and other problems. Take the camera to an authorized repair shop and have them remove it. It probably wont cost too much as nothing needs to be replaced, hopefully.

For future refrence, (everyone else) One of the most dangerous places to shoot is on a beach. Youve got not only sand but mist and seawater and often a breaze to blow it all over the place/ Plus even if you think YOU are careful, someone else may not and sprinkle there sandy skin all over your gear. Electronics nightmare. My sister also screwed her laptop taking it to the beach. Sand is the equivalent of little rocks that can blow in the wind.

As a videographer I will turn down beach weddings if I think there is a risk to my equipment.

I think if you get a clear filter (about 50 bucks) and put it on the front this will protect the lens from sand and mist. It also protect your lens from physical harm like crashing into something while running (watch the filmaking school with Robert Rodriuguez on the Once Upon a Time in Mexico DVD for an example of this)

While in my vault that is hermetically sealed with halon gas emmiters to prevent fire damage. Totally waterproof encased inside 3 pelican cases stacked within each other. A 10 ton door with a computerized algorithmic lock.. Guards in the towers with machine guns.. German shepherd dogs growling and barking feverishly .... im sure my Baby is safe...
