Re: Matching A7S to 5D Mark III

find the most similar profile to begin with... i bet neutral on each are not too drastically different... shoot some color charts on both... then color one to look like the other in post.
might be a better way, but thats how i'd do it.

I did that test.

A7s:

The closest I got is to have Picture Profile OFF (Yes)

And the Canon:

Base profile: Standard (not neutral, this is closer to Sony's PP of and doesn't lose any noticeable DR vs neutral)
Sharpness: +2 (to illusionary match a7s higher resolution, but NOT higher than just 2 or 1)
Contrast: -4 (of course)
Saturation: 0
Colour tone: +1 (takes Canons red skin edge off to sony )

Then it's very easy to tweak them in post and get a fairly great match in minutes.

If you have the heavy time and skill, then

Cinestyle with everything at -4 (yes including saturation but not Color tone of course),

A7s at PP7 S-Log minus everything, and go paint in post.

It works better than most people would think they fall apart, they don't.

Just remember to add sharpness in post to 5D footage but not to a7s, if you go this hard way, that is. I recommend the first suggestion for fast normal work.

I'd never go with the sharpness dialed in, not on a canon body (though maybe just in the case I can't work with the image in post, but I find it hard to have such situations...)
It just ruins the image, I suppose you should know the effects, since you are an experienced user.
