GH3 Re: L-Series Equivalent Lenses?

Re: L-Series Equivalent Lenses?

Does Panasonic have an L-Series equivalent line in their lenses? How do they distinguish between a line of lenses with "professional quality" (i.e. high MTF rating, less distortion...etc) vs poorer end-consumer quality?

I'm not 100% sure, But I have not seen any pani lens that offers weatherproofing Like the L series. But thats not to say they don't exist:)

I'm not sure how rugged they are, I certainly doubt to L specs, but I thought the 12-35 2.8 and 35-100 2.8 were in the same realm for Pani as the L's are for Canon

The Panasonic "pro" series are called the "X" lenses. Canon has "L", Panasonic has "X". So the Lumix X 12-35, Lumix X 35-100, etc.

Of course, you could also use Canon L's on your Panasonic if you wanted to; you'd just need an appropriate adapter, like the Redrock LiveLens.

The GH3 is claimed to be weather sealed and I believe the two lenses Kevin mentioned are also. Now weather sealing and waterproof are not the same. I used to take my 7D and 17-40 f4L out in the rain and was OK.

Recently I got a used 12-50mm Olympus Zuiko that was the weather sealed offering "kit" lens for the OMD E-M5 (I have GH2's and a GH3 body on pre-order) and plan to use it with the GH3 if I have to go out in bad weather.

As far as sharpness goes, I have not been at all disappointed in any of the Lumix primes or Oly primes I have (14mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 45mm).
