Re: Infinite White Background + Floor

Re: Infinite White Background + Floor

What should I use to create an infinite white background + white floor such as in this music video at 0:35:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W1P3fBLFGs&ob=av2e

My fear is with dancers on the infinite white material that it will create folds and make them trip and create unwanted shadows as well.

NOTE: Assume lighting considerations have already been made, my main concern is the material of the background + floor.

In the studios like the one in the clip, that I've been in. The flooring is standard flooring, painted, or is 'white' substance in the first place.
It would be a hard material so no concern about tripping or getting caught in 'material' that is mobile.

The studios also had a 'half round' at the intersection of the wall and the floor, such that there was no visible 'sharp corner'. The clip studio
looked more like a continuous material, from floor, the 'scoop up' and then the wall.

In any case it did not look like a 'soft cloth', or similar material, but basically moulded or formed material, although it could be a 'super wide' paper...
but there were no scuff marks on the floor... or 'slight' movement when the dancers hit the surface... well, with the resolution and fast cuts I couldn't see
any...

It is called White Cyc. Most of the film or photo studio have that. It will be alot easier to rent the space then trying to create one.
If you don't have the budget, and try to stick with the white seamless paper, I suggest not doing a full body shot because that paper can't hold together if someone dance on it.
You can cheat it, just extend the seamless just 1 feet away from the dancer, so you can get as full body as you can without seeing the real floor.

You can get some boards (8X4) that are white and lay them with white gaff tape and tape them to a paper B/G

You also need to consider your lighting probably needs to be on a gantry to hit the rear and keep the stands out of shot

Doing the cyc look in '3d' ie videos is very hard

Narrow DOF and bright lights can be your friend
