RE: HMC80: Time Stamp Display/Green Playback Icon Issues

Does anyone know how to display the date/time stamp via the composite video out port without also displaying the green playback icon. If I turn off the on-screen display, both the date/time stamp and the green playback icon are not output, as expected. I can even turn off the date/time stamp display, but I can't find a way to turn off the green playback icon while displaying the date/time stamp. Any ideas?

I know I can permanently turn on the date/time stamp display while in the record mode. A little red colored "R" appears next to the stamp. This would solve the issue above. However, I still want to be able to display the date/time stamp on the occasions when I forget to turn on the display while in the record mode. Specifically, I want to display the stamp when I'm playing back a video deposition from the HMC80 and capturing to a portable DVD recorder.

You can't---- not designed like older cameras like DVC30 where you can turn on and off the time date.

The HMC40 does not record a separate subtitle track, I suppose that the HMC80 does not either. So, if timestamp is not burned while recording, it is not stored anywhere else. Well, maybe somewhere in clipinfo file, but I suppose that for depositions you need unmutable timestamp. Timestamp stored in a subtitle track or in clipinfo file (if it IS stored there at all) can be modified, which would not work for depositions, would it?

Newer consumer Panasonic camcorders record timestamp as PGS stream. Subtitles can be turned on and off from a BD player's "subtitle" button.

P.S. You can verify whether PGS track is recorded with MediaInfo.
